But what about my blog? If I google for "money matters blog", I don't come up there either. I have those words in the title, the description tag, and the H1 tag. Something smells fishy.
Now granted, I don't think someone is going to search for those terms exactly, but as a test, I should find my site when I do use those key words.

Understood. I thought all along that I was spending my time trying to get ranked for the words that matter (money, debt, budgeting, investing, financial freedom, etc), but apparently that hasn't been working.
I also understand those search words are very competitive and it's hard to rank well. But as I said, searching for "money matters blog" should at least turn me up in the first 1-3 pages of results (I would think).
