I've registered my domains through them (ultimately Tucows) and I've hosted my domains with them since they (and I) began.
I've also been preaching almost since time began that CHEAP domain registration is a bad idea for the reasons you stated and more. For example, I have been known to forget to renew a domain, and AllWebCo is right there. When I want to transfer a domain from another registrar (i.e., when I bought AmericaZoo), they handled all the uglies for me. You have a control panel to handle all your domains, and you're free to go anytime you choose (but you won't choose).
Here's the poop on registering a domain name through them (NO, I do not make a dime on this; they cancelled their affiliate program years ago, but I continue to use my link so they'll know I still love them).
And here's the poop on hosting through them (I don't make a dime on this either).
Their "UP" TIME is second to none.
Their SERVICE is second to none.
They provide ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY, 100% SAFE, RELIABLE hosting and registration (ultimately NOT through the same company) -- both with an OUTSTANDING TRACK RECORD -- and you don't pay any $80, but they aren't the cheapest either... $9.95, $17.95, and $24.95 with tons of space and all the bells and whistles and more available for a tiny (*tiny*) fee.
And for SERVICE... well, it just doesn't get any better than AllWebCo.
Tons of FIBers can vouch for them.
