Well, since I really don't know the TYPE of work you're qualified for, it's a bit hard to say where to go. I haven't done anything like this for many years but if I were looking for extra work I'd go where there's most likely to be occasional spurts of extra data input to do. For example, tax and accounting firms might be pushed to the limit about now and welcome some help with billing or routine input.

Used car lots are often looking for title clerks to help out during their peak seasons.

If you have insurance experience, you are in demand, so check them out.

Newspapers sometimes need extra help...and if you know Quark, well, you may be able to wangle a part time job if that's to your liking.

Another place you might go is to the various office buildings, particularly those that have a large number of smaller clients in the building. Why? Because, when those small guys start to grow, they often need help...in a hurry...until they can hire and train a permanent employee.

Secretarial Services often need help for varying periods of time.

Temporary agencies, that do NOT charge YOU for their services are another option you might look into. There are some fine ones around but do check them out.

Don't get suckered into buying yourself a job no matter how good they make it sound, Chandra. Nine times out of ten you'll find it a churn and burn mill. For example: they'll send you out on what appears to be a great job and you agree to pay them a proportionate fee. You get to the job and discover that you're #5 in about 4 months that they've placed in that job. You'll last there just long enough to 'qualify' to pay them their fee. It's a legal racket and hurts those who can least afford it.

Legitimate professional placement agencies do exist but they're not easy to find unless you happen to be good enough to interest a headhunter. In that event, the job will be legit and the offer, if it comes, will be worth following up, generally speaking. The company pays the headhunter to find the ideal applicant to fill a specific position.

Wish you much success, Chandra.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
