Dear Whatever Your Name Happens to Be,
You have your opinion and I have mine.
Mine is based on over 5 years of managing a busy board, 7 years plus of visiting them, and a ton of other experience that I don't need to go into in dealing with the public.
Last post to you....
You won't alter my opinion in the least. Once again as I stated ignorance of the rules is no excuse for having violated them. It is really no more complicated than that. Until you have a board that is well-visited and you are responsible in maintaining the content of that board I would dare say that your opinions, while valid to you, are really very qualified.
You got your feelings hurt when your initial post wasn't taken in the light in which you meant for it to have been taken. Get over it and move on. I still stand behind what I stated regarding "love it or leave it"; coming to boards like this is an option afterall. Yes 'newbies' are welcomed at this and every other board I am aware of. But they are not welcome to come in, post whatever they may feel like posting, and not end up being made an example of. Sad but true this is the way things are on busier boards. We learn our best lessons from our mistakes afterall but only if someone lets us know we made those mistakes in the first place.
In an ideal world we board owners could be nice and sweet; "Please don't post your ads here. They aren't welcomed." -or- "Drive-by articles are against the rules".
It doesn't work. The rules are posted and are simple enough for anyone who cares enough to follow them to understand them.
In closing I would urge that you open up your own board. Then work hard for literally years to build the traffic and credibility of that board. As the power of that board grows so too does its advertising value. This naturally draws the scabs in who want to get a little free advertising even if it cost the integrity of the board and its content.
Now once you have put in about 6 years working hard and building your board up to the standard of this one try constantly being "nice" to those who come in and try to steal advertising from you. That afterall is what is happening when people come in and openly break the rules; it is theft. I guess the police should be "nice" to first time offenders too based on your train of thought.
With all due respect you need to realize that for everyone 1 person who didn't know better or accidentally got "flamed" on the boards, there are 99 others who came in knowing EXACTLY what they were doing and targeted the board for ad theft. How do I know this? Because many of the programs 'newbies' are vulnerable to purchase actually make mention of using the boards for such purposes. (the $6 pyramid scam for example that always pops up)
I wish you well. Let me know in 5 or 6 years what the URL of your board is so that I can stop by, post an ad anonymously, and see if you are still "nice".

| PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
