If this guy is only telling a person how to make wire wrap/wire name jewelry, then his price seems pretty darn excessive. There are tons of books out there, that cost a heck of a lot less than $297.00 (or can be found in a library), that show you exactly how to do wire wrapping (in all sorts of shapes, not just names).
If he is also trying to show you how to market your products, then it might justify the price. But I bet you can find much better marketing products then this guy. Heck, he couldn't even sell his course to you so how good can he be at marketing?
Secondly, if you decide this is a business you want to pursue here are a few suggestions to put an individual twist on it (sorry, I had to throw in the pun!)
**Instead of names, how about school spirit stuff like mascots or slogans. For example, right now, Texas Longhorns and Rose Bowl fever have completely taken over Texas. Your wire wraps could spell out "Longhorns" or "LiveTheDream" or whatever. For high schools they could be "Wildcats" or "GoLadyCats" or "Elgin2006" (to establish a graduating year) or "WildcatBand" or anything else that can be remotely associated with school spirit. This isn't limited to high schools but if you want to start small, start local. As you grow, you may want to branch out to college customers.
**Religion, religion, religion! How about "WWJD" or "PraiseHim" or "MazelTov" any other short religious phrase. In this melting pot country, you have a lot of religions to choose from or you can focus on just one.
**Inspirational phrases: "DreamBig" or "LiveLoveLaugh" or "LifeIsGood".
**Relationships: "Sisters" or "BestFriends" or "Bennifer" or "Brangelina" or "GeorgeClooneyLovesElizabeth" or ....
**Humor: "ByteMe" for a techie or "SithHappens" for a Star Wars nut (but if you use a pun on a recognized brand, check to make sure you aren't stepping on copyright/trademark toes) or "WineDiva" (or ANYTHING Diva for that matter) or "MrsClooney".
Also, in addition to the phrases, you can add beads and charms to the jewelry just to add some extra oomph.
:)

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
