MaaMaw, Sandi:Problems with Bsafeonline security software...

Hello All:

Wanted to advise of a little(lol) problem I ran in to while trying to use the Bsafeonline software that Sandi said that she and MaaMaw uses...

I went to the website and was impressed with the comparison chart (vs Norton, etc.) that Sandi linked in her post down the page a bit..

I chose the full suite with the free 10 day trial...while installing the software, a window popped up that said that they recommended that I remove a program with a .net suffix, being that it wasn't neccessary...I looked for the program in my add/remove place in the control panel, but couldn't find any program..

After rebooting to load the software, I tried to do a virus scan and you guessed it...nothing!

I figured I'd go online to the website and see if I could find out what the problem was...and lo and behold, I COULDN'T GET ON THE NET, neither with Netscape or Internet explorer browsers!

Sooooo, called Cox Communications to see if we could fix the problem...after 2 30 minute phone calls, multiple pinging, rebooting, disconnecting the cable power source, etc. we were unable to resolve the problem...

Seems that I was online ok, but my ethernet adapter thingamaagig was not able to find or connect with the netscape or internet explorer addresses...

The tech on the phone said that I needed to go purchase a new NIC card and install it in the computer and reload my TCP drivers!

Well, this was a real kick in the butt as I haven't the first idea how to install the card, etc, etc,....

Not being the type who gives up easily, I decided to look in the add/remove program thing again and look for that .net file that bsafe's software had alluded to...and VOILA!, I found this little program that apparently enables you to accees newer sites with the new suffixes...

I decided to delete/ remove it...and whaddya know, I'm back on the net!

My head is still spinning from this experience...after all the tech help ( and yes, I mentioned to the techie that the program had asked me to delete the .net program in my program files), this technically challenged person fixed it himself...

I have to add that trying to get any information from the FAQ page at the bsafeonline website in order to cancel the account/ trial was a joke, very complicated for this simpleton...

MaaMaw and Sandi perhaps can come in here and defend this security software and tell me what I did wrong, but I am not pleased to say the least and wanted to pass this experience on in the hopes that it might help others who decide to try this security software...

Time to get an aspirin,
Dale

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
