because I haven't used it. What I read sounds impressive -- like it will do almost everything for me -- and that might be the best thing since God invented chocolate.
Color me demented, but I like to do it myself.
Corey's course teaches you everything you need to know about marketing on the internet. It teaches you from the ground up, so you understand each and every step along the way. For me, it was a powerhouse of ideas (not that he handed me but that my brain cooked up as I read and things began to fall into place).
Corey's course is, hands down, the most comprehensive HOW-TO course on the planet.
It does not do it for you (and I recommend against buying any of the automation tools discussed in the course until you at least get your feet wet)...
And it does NOT teach you how to actually build (as in "write the HTML" for) your web site... nor does it provide hosting, etc.
I prefer to do that myself, like I said, and I host all my sites with AllWebCo. I would (gasp!) give up chocolate before I would give up AllWebCo.
I choose (stupidly, I dare say) to do all my HTML coding myself, and I learned from a bright orange book called, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating an HTML Web Page"... but you needn't torture yourself. There are bzillions programs to help you out.
With SiteSell, you pay $299 per year, and that includes the works.
My hosting company of choice charges $215.40 per year for everything I could possibly want (although there are fancier options), and their service is second to none (which is very important, IMHO).
Again, I have no first-hand experience with SiteSell, but I much prefer to gain the knowledge I need and handle things myself.
One thing I didn't find (it's possible the answer is right there in front of me and I missed it) --
What if you want to move your domain to a new host? Are you free to do that anytime you want? If you do, how will you manage it, and continue to grow, if everything has been done for you??
SiteSell proudly tells the story of one of its success stories... JuggleNow.com.
I went to see Alexa's traffic rankings for JuggleNow.com, and I was surprised (and tickled pink) to see that FriendsInBusiness.com leaves JuggleNow.com in its dust. True, I've been online three years longer, but it seems like JuggleNow should have done a lot better than that in four years if SiteSell is really as wonderful as it claims.
Understand, I'm not saying I make more money than JuggleNow does... he could be really raking in the bucks... but considering I have done absolutely NOTHING to promote FriendsInBusiness in its seven years of existence except posting on other bulletin boards on exceedingly rare occasions, I would expect JuggleNow to leave me in *their* dust, not the other way around.
Just food for thought.
Luv,
MaaMaw

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
