"I" have been "deeply affected" by the plight of the "refugees" in New Orleans. I can't imagine one of my family members having to be in a situation such as I saw in the Superdome.
"25,000 PEOPLE AND NO PLACE TO GO POTTY...AND NOTHING TO WIPE YOURSELF...WHEN YOU DO!"
The BIGGEST concern, prior to "Y2K" (remember Y2K)(in MY Town) from "females" was...WHAT IF WE DON'T HAVE A PLACE TO GO POTTY...AND...WHAT IF WE DON'T HAVE ANY "TP"?
Some of the scenes I saw of the MESS down there "sickened me". NO human being, living in America should be subjected to "INhuman" conditions like that!
So...when I went to a lunch meeting today...with some Church leaders, to talk about WHAT we could DO to help the people down there...the main topic was to "just give money to the Red Cross or Salvation Army". Which is OK...BUT;
My initial reaction...as a "Marketing & Promotion" guy was, "Hey! GIVE PEOPLE A "REASON" TO DONATE!"....and even though "Giving to the Salvation Army or local Red Cross for Hurricane Relief" is a "FINE" reason...
I said that, "Giving to a SPECIFIC THING"...in MY opinion...would generate MORE FUNDS...AND...make the givers FEEL BETTER about giving...rather than just giving into an "Organization"...which is like "tossing their money into a big hole"...again, this is OK BUT...I thought that people would
"feel better"if their money were going to something SPECIFIC!
So...one of the people there asked me, "OK Don, WHAT would YOU suggest as a "SPECIFIC" thing that would "get people MORE involved and excited about giving?"
I responded with, "Well. I KNOW, from Y2K, how WOMEN are concerned about "RUNNING OUT OF TOILET PAPER"...and I saw that MOST of the people down there in New Orleans were WOMEN...AND...I will betcha they do NOT have ENOUGH "TP"...therefore, I am proposing WE...from Roseburg, Oregon... organize a "SEMI-LOAD OF TOILET PAPER"...
a..."TOILET PAPER TRUCK"!
AND...the response was OVERWHELMING!
Not only STANDING OVATIONS FROM WOMEN...but MALES ALSO....stood andappluaded the idea. So, I gave the first $1,000 into the "kitty" and I am going about my town collecting for the "TOILET PAPER TRUCK"....and...I thought that ONE Way I could help raise additional funds was to sell something I have...at a reduced price AND...donate PART of the proceeds to my "TOILET PAPER TRUCK".
So...the one item I have to "sell" is my UPDated Midas Report...and instead of selling it at the regular price of $297...sell it for $179 with $50 of each sale going to the"TOILET PAPER TRUCK" fund...AND...each person who either;
1) Sends me $50 for the "TOILET PAPER TRUCK" fund
or
2) Orders my Midas Report for $179 of which I will place $50 in the "TOILET PAPER TRUCK" fund in THEIR NAME
WILL GET THEIR NAME PLACED ON THE SIDE OF THE "TOILET PAPER TRUCK"...IN 2 INCH LETTERS...
