Well damn!!
My two very small successes made me want more MORE *MORE*, and so far I'm still having fun. Earning peanuts, but having fun (at least for the time being).
Two things amaze me so far (I'm sure there will be more):
Just for giggles, I've been following one seller who has well over 2500 auctions running at a time (4500+ one day I checked) and was selling something like $1500 a day on each of the days I checked. Well, yesterday I went back (it's been a while). One random day she sold almost NOTHING! Tons of auctions closed, and maybe 5% sold. The day before, page after page of auctions, and literally EVERY ONE sold (well, maybe a couple didn't). #1, this is so strange; the items weren't much different. #2, I just can't see where the profit comes from (all small-change stuff) with all those listing fees. Between the listing fee, the final value fee, and the PayPal fee, it takes a *huge* chunk of the small stuff.
And the other thing that amazes me on one hand and doesn't surprise me a bit on the other is the number of hits to my own auctions. With all the stuff on Ebay, it doesn't surprise me to only be getting about 1-1/2 hits a day on some and a whopping 2 or 3 a day on others (and it doesn't surprise me not to sell anything at that rate). What *does* amaze me is that the hit counter that comes free with listings rates hits as below average, average, or above average -- and with those piddly-ass numbers, mine are all ABOVE AVERAGE! That's ridiculous!
Every day I wake up and smack myself and say, "You are doing this WHY?" -- but I know me, and I know I won't stop at least until I use up my little profit.
My only goal in this endeavor is grocery money. (I have each little income stream earmarked for some basic survival item.) The problem is, it takes so long, I don't think I'll have time to eat my groceries :-(
Luv,
MaaMaw

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
