For the sake of any newbie who might be naive enough to fall for this tired old pyramid scam, don't believe it.
> NOTE: This service is 100% "Illegal"!!!
> - (Refer to title 18 section 1302 of the U.S. Postal & lottery laws)
Actually, the chapter they cite, specifically prohibits using the US Mails to participate chain letters where anything more valuble than a recipe is involved. You can be charged, convicted, and possibly spend time in jail for you part in this totally illegal scam.
HOW IT WORKS? When you send out 200 Posts, it is estimated that at
> least 15 people will respond and send you a $1.00. ($15.00) Those 15 will
> Post 200 Posts each and 225 (15x15=225) people send you $1.00 ($225.00)
> Those 225 people Post 200 Posts each and 3,375 (225x15=3375) people send
> you $1.00 ($3,375.00) Those 3,375 post 200 posts each and 50,625
> (3375x15=50625) people send you $1.00 ($50,625.00) Those 50,625 post 200
> posts each and 759,375 (50625x15=759,375) people send you $1.00 ($759,375)
> At this point your name will drop off the list, but so far you have
> received around $800,000.
Bald faced lie. The dropout rate is much higher than the projections indicate, with more dropping out at every level. In addition, many of the scammers who participate follow their less than ethical consciences and skip sending their $6 to the names on the list.
If you actually receive 50 or more of these $1 letters, your local postal inspectors may be informed. In that case, they are apt to call or pay you a visit, warning you about your legal consequences for participation.
Avoid these at all costs, including the newer online/Paypal version. Paypal will suspend any account used for these $6 scams. Check out the rules.
There are seveal legitimate means for earning income online or off.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
