The silent sales book does not tell you to email everyone who bids on your auctions. It teaches you how to build relationships with eBay shoppers by diverting people from within your auctions to your website.
There was another ebook a few years ago with the advice to capture emails of all bidders and subscribe them to your list. I don't want to mention the name here, but the book wasn't Jim Cockrum's silentsalesmachine.
That does violate eBay's rules and will cause problems.
As for being insulting, that was not my aim. The sad truth is many people look at opportunities with an eye to finding excuses not to take action. People then find or invent reasons and then spread them like missionaries.
Missionaries is a good word. Not to insult any of the religious people here, but when we carry the word to other and convert them, it reinforces our beliefs.
I live in Mesa AZ and one of biggest crops is Mormons. As young adults many Mormons go on missions - my brother-in-law went to South America. Sure, the stated goal is to increase the flock, but a powerful secondary goal is the promotion of unity within the existing flock.
That is what is happening here. There are some posts along this thread with information, but many of them read as a testament to failure.
Combine them together and there is a flock united around the common theme of "There must be something wrong with the system, not with me or my application."

PS one of the most helpful things I have found in my business and social life is to watch the people around me. One of my friends is a disorganized mess. He is an exaggerated version of me. It's really easy for me to spot my defects when I look at him and honestly answer the question, "Do I do that?"
