You may recall a couple of weeks ago I posted here for ways to mask affilate links. I got a couple of good responses and decided to go with the .htaccess route.
So, I went into my Control Panel on my server and they have a "Redirect" Button. I went on there and set up half a dozen or so redirects. Then I tested. Half worked the other half didn't.
So, I clicked the "Files" button and actually went in and found the .htaccess file. Sure enough, the "Redirect" button just wrote to the .htaccess file.
But, just to be sure, I edited right in the .htaccess file.
Same results the long ones did not work.
So, I downloaded the file and tried using a text editor and uploading. No change.
I then got the server tech people involved. Same thing. They wanted me to get a shell account, which took special authorization, but since everytime I tried shell in the past I screwed something up I told them thanks, but no thanks.
That went on for a few days after I posted here. I finally gave up on redirects and set up my own pages where I could use the links, but I wasn't happy.
So, I've been on the lookout ever since. Yesterday I found the answer. A program that actually builds a code that you save as a file on your server and just link to the file.
Here's two links I could not get to work with .htaccess -

So anyhow, yesterday I found, and bought, a program that does it just great. I really thought I'd be applying for my refund within 30 minutes, but it did exactly what I needed and I must tell you about it, since I know from several of your posts this is a concern of yours as well.
Frankly, it's one of those "buy me and you get full resale rights" deals. I don't normally get into something like that, but just like only being an affilate for something I believe in, I could sell this with a clear conscience.
I think you know I don't come here to sell, and I'll understand if you just delete this post. I'd just like to get my $ 5.00 back.
Anyhow, I have set up an order page. If you are interested, it's listed below. If you think I'm here just to sell it, I'm not. But, if you delete the post, again, I'll understand.
