Riddle me this

In Response To: They provide ecurrency exchange services (Dave Mauder (eDave))

I don't know anything about your opportunity, and am not really that interested (never commented it or even read the threads on it before) but on the surface it looks funny - although I'm ready to concede I haven't examined the details.

Here's why it looks odd to me (leaving aside any questions that I might have about the reliability of particular online currencies - like what is to stop some random unscrupulous e-currency company from printing unlimited funds to themselves in their particular e-currency - nobody would find out until their currency collapsed in a rush of withdrawals):

International currencies float. For example, the US Dollar, British pound, Euro, etc. all move up and down based on whether people are prepared to invest money in the corresponding economy. For example, if British interest rates are high compared to other economies, all other things being equal, it's more attractive to an investor to put money into the British economy (because they get a higher percentage return).

Now with this e-currencies, I don't see how they can float.

If I go to PayPal, and I assume most of the others, I convert real US dollars, into PayPal US dollars at a fixed rate (1:1) plus any charges PayPal levies to do the conversion. As the conversion charges are relatively low, I don't see a whole lot of scope to make profit just on the charges. And there is no "investing" in the PayPal economy, or the Stormpay economy, because the funds are in theory total liquid (you can move them between payment systems on an instant basis, and money in PayPal doesn't earn a higher or lower return than money in Stormpay, because in theory it's all convertible back to US dollars).

But if I go to the site which I presume is about this, and look at one of the e-currencies: http://www.dxcurrencies.com/online-currency-statistics/STM.php

Exchange rates from the past 30 days, vary by more than a factor of 10 ($1.99 @ 22-28 days ago, to $20.04 @ 8-14 days ago).

Now the question is WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF A TEN-FOLD MOVEMENT???? It doesn't make sense if stormpay can convert to US $ at any time - even if Stormpay tracks some other currency, no real currency moves by a factor of 10 against the US dollar in the last 30 days.

So explain that, if you can.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
