I think you might find some of these tools easier to work with as you gain more experience using them. Here is a little something I wrote about Nvu

To place this image where we want it into Nvu click the icon on the toolbar that's says "IMAGE" and then choose the correct image from your folder like this:

You will see that I've added what is known as an "Alternate text" description of the image. This is a required attribute for images, which search engines will read. It is also easier for people to understand what might be there if they are surfing with images turned off in their browser.

But wait! Don't click "OK" yet. We need to align the image. So you will need to click the button on this window that says "Advanced Edit." When you do this, you will see at the bottom where we can choose to change attributes and values. I'd like to have this image aligned to the left and have the text flow around the image. If you would like the same, make these settings like Figure 4-15 below.

It might be a good idea to practice with the other settings. Change them and add text to your web page to see how these affect the flow of text around the image.

When you're finished practicing, set your image attributes as I have.

Once you have this set, then you can click "OK."

Some of the other attributes you may be curious about, and can be learned by testing include:

• height - the height of the image
• width - the width of the image
• align - the horizontal alignment of the image
• top -- aligns the text with the top of the picture
• bottom -- aligns text with bottom of picture
• middle -- aligns the text with the middle of the image
• right -- aligns image to the right, and text will wrap around it
• left -- aligns picture to the left, and text will wrap around it
• hspace should be the amount of space you want on the sides your picture in pixels
• vspace should be the amount of space you want on the top and bottom of your picture in pixels

There are also some tutorials included in the "Help" section of Nvu and you will find it very beneficial to review the entire help section.
