In response to:
Pete: http://friendsinbusiness.com/board1/index.cgi?read=92848 and
Patti: http://friendsinbusiness.com/board1/index.cgi?form=92861 and the
"Who is Cody Moya" thread: http://friendsinbusiness.com/board1/index.cgi?read=92538
Who is Pete?
Part of "Cody's" JV venture maybe? who knows... or to quote Pete in an earlier post to me... "who cares?".
Patti makes a very good point and everyone should approach these with a little skepicism and do their due diligence before getting on a multitude of mailing lists just to download a bunch of "free" products. Yes... done that myself and now I'm starting to get SPAMMED by some that I've never heard of and I KNOW I didn't sign up for. No... I did not sign up and forget... I actually created a new email box just for this particular JV and I made notes of which ones I signed up for. And now, this email box is starting to get spammed.
Anyone that has ever signed into one of these JV events knows that it's a marketing event that is targeted at getting people on their email list. As I previously stated, I don't have a problem with this... but, most of these "newsletters" that you have to sign up for to get the "free product" have no real content and are only advertisements for you to buy their latest affiliate "product". Yes, you can unsubscribe and most of them will unsubscribe you. Then there are others who (despite their claims that they don't sell or give away your email address) that get you on spam lists. I know this to be a fact, because since I participated in the Xmas Giveaway by Mike Filsaime, I'm starting to get "newsletters/ads" from a few that I've never asked for from people I've never heard of... i.e. SPAM!
In addition, as Patti also pointed out, you can find most of these give-aways elsewhere... sometimes you still have to sign up for an email list, although there are many sites that just let you download them for free. The other aspect is that a LOT of them aren't worth your wasted time of downloading.
There are some good "guru's" out there and some good information and worthwhile products... one of which is Cory Rudl, as Lesley will certainly vouch for (http://www.friendsinbusiness.com/details/coreycourse.html). If you do your due diligence, you will find that he is highly recommended by most everyone. There are many others as well... such as Andy Williams at ez-search-engine-optimization.com, who actually puts out a great newsletter with real content, not a daily email telling you that... you just gotta buy this latest, greatest "fill in the so-called product".
I do want to say that while Cody may be a great guy and may have a good product, I was not able to find anything about him. Maybe Pete could tell us... but who is Pete? Maybe Pete could get Cody to come here and give us some real background, maybe contribute some knowledge, and tell us why we would want to trust him?

| PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
