First of all, The tracking for the bought store is terrible to say the least.
I can only see how "many". Not where they come from or anything else. I think
the reason the built store is getting more visits from SE searches is because
of the way I have the gifts categorized.

for instance. Under Collectible Animals. You will not find anything but
Animals. Household....shelves all on there own. cabinets together and so
forth. I didn't "mix" anything and I used terms that people in this age
search for, unlike the bought site that lists ships and dolphins under
"nautical gifts".

Most of the visits to the pages come from page 1 in the SE that posted my
link. This tells me that I built it right and they are coming! LOL! Now
just to get my prices down where They will buy!

As far as PR. You don't have to have that to show up 1st in the SE. If someone
does a search for a term that you have most relevant, it will show up 1st even
if another site offering the same has a PR of 7. It has to do with text,
keywords used, the optimization thing....

One example that used to "stump" me....I have a page on Oakleyinternational
about advertising with classified ads. On that page there was reference to
"Thrifty nickles". That page is visited from the top ten in Se's weekly for
that term. Reason being...No competition...I "accidentally", simply added a
decent keyword to a page that someone may search for and there aren't many
other pages containing the keyword. So when someone searches for it the page
shows up in the top 10.

As far as "back links". I think they help. But I don't think you "have" to have
them. My gift pages are a good example..I only uploaded these pages in Dec 04.
By Jan 05 I was already getting good top 10 links from SE's, before I added
any reciprocal links! Maybe it would increase traffic with back links because
of the added exposure. But after this "test" revealing what it did, I'm not
so sure anymore. Point is. Relevancy works. Having rich text that matches
what people are actually searching for works.

At this point that is all I can say.
