Re: Linda Christas: BEWARE!!!!!

Hello,
I saw the post above from a "defender" of Linda Christas and thus I am posting the warning below:

I am a New York State certified teacher with a Master's Degree in Education. A couple of months back, I posted my resume on a national job site. Within a day, I had received an e-mail from a company called "Linda Christas" which informed me that I qualified for an educational position with their company. The woman who posted the e-mail directed me to a website, told me to study the content carefully, and to get back to her if I was interested.

Wellllll, folks, it turned out that this "company" (according to its slick website) solicited "educational professionals" to work on a commission basis in their individual locales to recruit families (with school-age children) into this "online school" of sorts. Now, (AND HERE'S THE CLINCHER) Linda Christas requires payment of $400 from an "educational professional" such as myself to receive some type of online "administrative training" that they claim (according to another e-mail by one of its reps) will get me "up to speed" on my knowledge of the educational field.(so what did I pay thousands for my Master's in Science for????) Then, after you plunk down your bucks and receive this online "training"...... (drumroll PLEASE) you will have the grand priviledge (MAYBE, the decision rests totally with them and is contingent upon their approval), OF WORKING ON A COMMISSION BASIS FOR THIS "ONLINE" SCHOOL!!!!!

I posted on FIB at this time and Mel.White and others felt the whole thing smelled like one huge rat. (check it out in MaaMaww's archives). I did a Google search and found a collection of disturbing complanits by people contacted in the same manner in which I was, who pretty much just got scammed by this questionable outfit. Interestingly, whoever posted this "defense" above was supposedly yet another "glowing parent" who is shocked and appalled by some of the negative stuff floating around regarding the noble and holy "LINDA CHRISTAS". Hmmmmm..... why would so many parents of this school be spending so much time on anti-scam sites defending their kid's school? What I think is that the "scammers" in this organization anticipate this negative press, and scour the net for any "dirt" they can try to deflect.

Any way, I received several e-mails from the organization informing me that I needed to send in the $400 or they would give the position to someone else in my area. When I requested literature on the "school", the rep sent me a long, defensive e-mail which explained that as an "online school", they did not have a physical mailing address and couldn't afford to print up pricey brochures, and spouted some psychobabble about "lack of trust" on my part and "not taking advantage of golden opportunities in one's life". SEARING HOT RED FLAG!

Anyway, pardon the rambling, but this board, MaaMaww, Mel., and others ROCK, and I wanted to spare other people from a very elaborate scam and give back something to this incredible group of "FIB".

Thank You,
Ms. Skeptical

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
