800 impressions doesn't mean a thing really. It just means it showed up on someones browser that many times. I never click on every ad on a page when I do a search! Who does? You need 1000's of impressions to get click throughs. And if three people clicked through and didn't buy, what does that mean? Nothing because the sample is way too small. You need to do a bigger test before you give it up. $1.20.....wow what a hole that made in your pocket! LOL! Sorry, just having some fun with you. Here is a real adwords short story for you. I know it's true, I ran the ad.
I was selling jewelry through an affiliate company http://nantucketsilver.com/sisterssilver. It's still up if you want to look at it. Well we used to get 1000's of impressions a week and sold about 1-2% of the click throughs. So lets say I spent 50-100 per month. The key number is roi, return on investment. If I spent a hundred and made $100 profit, why not spend $200 and make $200 profit, etc. In other words it's a numbers game. Get more targeted impressions and increase the campaign to make more money. At some point you will peak out and that's the best you will do. But zero for three means absolutely nothing. Also I continually tweaked my keywords, an art in itself. It's amazing how one little change can make you or break you. I'm not sure what you are selling, but you definately didn't give it a fair shot!
