Do you know about Terri Schiavo?
I think everyone knows about her today. I haven't been home long enough to figure out what's going on, but what my family is telling me is that there was a court order today (again) to remove her feeding and fluids, but there is a 24-hour "stay."
When I first heard about this a couple of years ago, I thought -- like most people do -- that if she's a vegetable and being "kept alive by artificial means," she should be allowed to die.
Well, I've changed my mind.

The woman is NOT a vegetable.
READ THE SITE.
She is NOT being "kept alive by artificial means." She is being FED -- like you would feed your handicapped child if he couldn't feed himself, or your mother if she couldn't find her mouth anymore.
In fact, they believe she can SWALLOW her own food because she can, and does, SWALLOW her own saliva -- but a brilliant right-to-die judge ordered a long time ago that they were NOT ALLOWED TO TEST HER TO FIND OUT IF SHE CAN *EAT* *ON* *HER* *OWN*!!
There is no money involved, so that isn't the husband's motivation.
The parents want to take care of her AND pay for it, so "freedom" isn't the motivation.
This part is arguable, but the husband's attorney is a prominent "right to die" attorney, and I personally believe he wants to make a political statement and set a precedent.
That is neither here nor there.
I don't give a rat's a** about that right now. As usual, I've waited too long to help in any little way I could. CRAP!... I haven't even written a letter, and I'm kicking myself now.
If they stop feeding this woman (WATCH THE VIDEOS), they aren't "letting her die"... they're executing her.
It is murder.
She has been allowed to almost starve to death at least twice before.
Please follow this along, and if she makes it this time but is not allowed to go home to the care of her parents.... DO something (like I didn't, but I will, I promise).
This is so horrible I can hardly stand it!
If you disagree, that's your right -- but this is my board and this is important to me, so don't get in my face. I'll zap your post.
