Personally, I think you're worrying about this way too much. Folks who are searching through blogs very seldom search for anything business related (SOME do. The majority don't.) They're looking for social interests; for folks to chat with. It's like The Tim said... blogs should not be thought of as something that will pull people in. They should be thought of as "value added" for a website.
What you're doing is more like this:
http://depressionnews.blogspot.com/
It's a business blog, but folks aren't going to search on any of the topics (as a general rule) and bloggers won't find it as often as the outsiders will, because "depressionnews" doesn't go around and post comments in other people's blogs.
Traditional bloggers (where the profile and all that malarkey is important) are more like this (I have no idea who this is; I just picked her from the most recent feeds): http://www.livejournal.com/users/tara_firma/
She will acquire a community because she goes around and reads other folks' blogs and comments on them. When she gets bored and wants to read a blog, she will pick groups according to her interests:

But she wouldn't search blogs for business tips, because bloggers think of the blogs for fun and not for business. I wouldn't worrry about the feeds.
