The dog sitting is good business, I do it myself and it works out well. The negative impact is that it does limit your personal flexibility to just decide one weekend to "get away" if your calendar is booked with jobs (although it is lucrative). The dog walking is a great suggestion also. I have friends who pay for their dogs to go to "puppy daycare" a few times a week, just to get them out of the house while they work. Sometimes I think I should go into the business full time. The animals are fine to deal with...as always it's their human pets that can, at times, be very demanding!
Heck, I'd pay your husband to poop-scoop my yard! It's difficult to find a dependable teen-ager to do that. While he's here I'd pay him extra to hang my ceiling fan, change my track lights in my vaulted ceiling, and spackle my walls! Rent a handy-man (did you say he wasn't handy? if so, sorry!)
If your hubby really doesn't want to use too much energy, maybe he could consider selling his plasma and blood on a regular basis. Really! Not to be gross or anything, but I had friends in college who did that. Is he signed up to be a focus group participant? Not steady income, but a few bucks every now and then.
Has he narrowed down the field of what he would enjoy doing?
