Okay, here's how I see it:
For $3.00, you lose virtually nothing by seeing what's involved.
HOWEVER... you stand to lose a *ton* on mailing costs.
Direct mail isn't easy. The return is a tiny percentage (I may be wrong, but I'm thinking 1%??). (And from a POSTCARD? I venture to guess not many people order from a postcard.)
Maybe the postcard advertises their wholesale catalog -- that's a possibility -- but who pays for the catalogs? Either the customer (and that's where your "commission" comes from)... or you do.
In any case, mailing is going to cost you a bundle. Even SMC advises that you NOT try direct mail unless you have the finances to do it.
Here's my conclusion in a nutshell:
If it was profitable to mail out the postcards, they would be mailing out the postcards themselves. They want YOU to pay their postage, and they reap the rewards.
Personally, I wouldn't do it.

P.S. Once upon a time, I tried sending out a direct-mail catalog. Really nice stuff. Three days after I mailed my first load, I got a $120 order, and that was SO thrilling that I kept mailing and mailing (BTW, that was 25 years ago, so $120 was a big order). You know how many more orders I got? ZERO. Looking back, I have to wonder if that was a plant, just to keep us poor suckers mailing. The postage cost me a small fortune, and of course I had to buy the catalogs. So when you add up 2 and 2... the companhy got their catalogs paid for AND their postage paid for by idiots like me, so they could afford to be happy about the occasional orders that probably trickled in.
