I have to admit to being pretty much permanently poisoned against Herbalife because of their support of the old (5-8 years ago) ubiquitous red/yellow sign spam nailed to every phone pole in town labeled "DIET MAGIC"
Of course it was their "independent distributors" nailing them up, not the company themselves, but HQ could have put a stop to it in ten minutes by forbidding their members from stealing their advertising space. And for years, they failed to do that simple thing, because of all the business it brought in.
It finally took a concerted effort by a national coalition of city and town code enforcement officers to convince Herbalife HQ they were going to receive cease & desist orders from all over the US. Finally, they took action.
And then the "New Way to Wealth" Herbalife scamful marketing organization sprung up to fill the gap.
And now VSM.
If you play "spot the trend" like I do, you will see the common thread here. Pills are pills. Diet magic is diet magic. It's the corporate culture that drives how a company is seen and perceived in the marketplace and the world.
It may be just me, but Herbalife is tainted for me by this continuing history - if the stuff was any good, it would not have to be marketed by such skirt-the-law aggressive means.
