Hi, folks - best wishes to everyone for 2005 - it's such a horrible end to 2004, watching all those pictures of the events unfolding in Asia, that I have celebrated the start of the New Year by sending the loose change lying around in my PayPal account to the Tsunami Relief appeal. There is information on this on the PayPal.com website - and an email address tsunamirelief@paypal.com - to send money (this is for the Unicef Tsunami appeal).
I am sure that, as here in the UK, there is a huge momentum growing to try to help those poor folks whose livelihood has been wiped out in a matter of moments. When you're talking about 5 million people whose lives have been shattered, and then think about the building costs for even 1 house, the amount of money needed is staggering.
I wonder if, as I think Mr Clinton suggested, each country/county/town will "twin" with an area of Asia to work towards building up the infrastructure again. This seems to be a way of breaking down an overwhelming task into manageable chunks.
I hope this makes a difference to someone's life -
