Anybody can compile a stack of information. The money is in the ability to distill the information into practical knowledge that someone can immediately apply to their situation.
That's why you pay for a good eBook. For example, there's nothing in the eBook that I'm plugging below that you can't find on your own. However, without experience, you won't know if a source is good or bad; what's important and what's not; what's true and what's false; what's applicable to your situation; etc.
So what costs you a few bucks in the form of an eBook or a customized research report has cost the author years of their lives, thousands of dollars in education and training, much experience, etc. You get what you pay for, and if you don't want to pay with cash, well, you'll end up paying with your time. And there's also a good chance that you'll either lose an opportunity because you don't have the knowledge to successfully leverage the opportunity or that you'll end up paying cash anyway because the small problem you needed the information to fix turned into a big problem before you found the answer. For example, my recommended eBook (below) will help you prevent data loss (along with a lot of other essential Information Assurance related tasks), but will be useless after your computer's hard drive crashes, taking all of your business' data with it. Isn't it better to spend a few dollars to learn how to protect your business' data instead of losing thousands in potential revenue because your computer died?
I'd rather pay a few dollars to get good information than spend days trying to figure it out for myself. That's why I bought the course that MaaMaw recommends (read her post, click on the link, and pull out the credit card -- it's worth it) and why I think that the product I'm linking to below is a great deal.
