Robbin Tungett came out with the Auction Ad Pro years ago and there are others out there also.
I agree that people don't need to place a lot of emphasis on learning html in order to make decent ads for eBay but here are two thoughts:
1. The more you know the more independent you are regarding your business. And the more valuable you are. Learning basic html isn't too hard and there are sites online that will assist people in learning it free of charge. (htmlgoodies.com for example)
2. There are wonderful html editors with fairly low learning curves that are far more powerful and capable that any ad creator that I have seen. Frontpage and Dreamweaver for example are extremely capable software titles that allow you to open them and immediately begin putting them to use.
I would urge that anyone who is seriously considering eBay as a business also seriously think about automating their business. There are several companies out there that allow full and total automation and assist in both creating ads as well as posting them at a specified time. With a little html know-how these automated sites become even more powerful.
