OK,

Run, do not walk, run over to creditboards.com and start reading. Grab a few pots of coffee and start reading. After you have spent sometime reading (usually I look up late Sunday night and realize I started on Friday evening) post your questions to the folks over there. You will find them very nice and helpful.

Start with the section saying NEWBIES START HERE.
Best threads to start with are:

Credit 101- (very) basic introduction

Credit Glossary - what all those terms mean

Dont' do this! ( biggest mistakes in credit repair)

Some other people may have had success doing it other ways, but I think you'll find that this way you can avoid some mistakes others have made. The best advice I can give is don't be in hurry. The collection agencies will try to pressure you, but time is on your side. Better yet, don't even speak with the agencies, do it all in writing so you don't get their pressure ploys.
