Ok, here's some friendly advice

Assuming a site is truly seeking more traffic and the initial post was legit, try ppc. Those clocks, if the price is enough of a bargain, may do well on eBay.

So what makes that initial post scream "I am an ad"?

First of all it is essentially anonymous. The initial poster used a web address as opposed to a name. There is only one reason this is done; to attempt to drive traffic to that site.

Next the post asks a question that admits the site is seeking increased traffic.

Then there is the fact of the timing. No pun intended but this is clearly a seasonal type of product line and thus now is the time to try getting some additional traffic coming in.

And finally the link at the end of the post in the sig file once again goes to that same site.

Take this for what it is worth but such tactics have been used on boards such as this one for literally years. And they don't work. Such post tell a great deal about the business that the owners usually would not want people to know. This post isn't meant to attack anyone. Only to inform. This board is EXTREMELY well moderated on a daily and constant basis.

One thing you need to realize about this post. Online perception about a business is one of the most important factors to the success of that business. I don't think that I am alone in believing that the post was an ad. Even if it wasn't if enough people believe that it was the damage is still the same. A loss of credibility that will follow you. A loss of potential sales. Opening yourself and your site/offer up to scrutiny. And sometimes board owners even report such activities to ISP and webhost as a form of SPAM. I know of at least one site that was shut down because of such post.
